Atlantic Florals
Spring/Summer 2010
This small collection of floral designs (hand-painted, using various mediums) is an homage to Spring and the salvation, albeit briefly, it brings to the East Coast after a cold winter and just before a predictably hot summer.
After the initial shock of having my home-grown Southern Californian, always sunny and 75 degrees mentality, shattered by discovering the existence of dramatically different ‘Seasons’- and after I thawed out, I quickly experienced the magic of Spring in New York City. It’s a devastatingly beautiful time to take refuge in, as well as an overwhelming highlight of one of my favorite things- flowers.
Each shoe in this series is based on a flower caught, captured and re-created, and inspired by little experiences that, for me, represent recent reassuring moments of how wonderful life is.
